Gucci Museum in Florence. Get Excited!

The 90-year-old Fashion House is celebrating it’s anniversary by opening a museum in Florence, Italy. It’s glamorous unveiling took place on the last day of Milan Fashion Week. The museum became open to the public on September 28th. The cost of entrance is only eight U.S dollars. Now that seems almost too good to be true!  I love fashion that is for a good cause; half of the proceeds will go towards preserving Florence’s historic beauties. I heard of this months ago and I honestly thought it was a rumor. The truth has set me free and unleashed a new desire to visit Florence.

All fashion lovers should just schedule one big trip to Florence!

Whose with me?

Listen here – SOUNDS OF S/S 2012 -#NYFW Edition

The S/S 2012 collections have come to an end here in New York but their music lives on in my memory. No really. I could not get “Girls Girls Girls” out of my head after the Jeremy Scott show! During this season I discovered a few new artists to love, such as The Fleets and was reminded of other artists I had some how forgot about, hello Seals and Crofts. I put together this playlist of songs that were played during the S/S 2012 season here in NYC. They are in no particular order and the playlist is a little over an hour and a half of happiness. #NYFW – Norman Ambrose S/S 2012

Of all of the fashion shows I attended this season the Norman Ambrose S/S 2012 collection was by far my favorite! I mean I loved it so much I was talking to myself as the clothes went by the ladies sitting next to me must’ve thought I was I was crazy and I was…Crazy for NORMAN AMBROSE! I really loved all the different metallic suits, they were very powerful and chic at the same time. I could see many different types of women commanding attention in these looks. The evening gowns in this collection were absolutely gasp worthy. Some were light and flowy like a dream while others were so strong you could not take your eyes off them. I hope to see some of these dresses during the upcomming award show season, particularly the all silver body skimming floor length gown that made my jaw drop! I really can’t say enough good things about this beautiful collection. To see all of the photos we took at this show visit our facebook page or check out the archive of our Tumblr.

#NYFW – Rochambeau S/S 2012

The S/S 2012 collection from Rochambeau evoked the spirit of rockers from the past dressed as modern men. One billowy white blouse worn with yolked relaxed fit pant gave me the essence of Jim Morrison. Really I think Jim could have rocked any one of the looks from this collection and perhaps this is what the designers were going for, a look of easy edgy chic. The one button leather vest is my favorite peice from this collection as I could see myself wear it and that is pretty rare because I do not own a single vest at this moment. The wider than normal leg of both the pants and shorts in this collection are a tell tale sign that the skinny look for men is on its way out. This collection defintiely has me interested in what will come next from the designers at Rochambeau. To see all of the photos we took at the Rochambeau presentation visit the album on our Facebook page or check the archive of our Tumblr.

#NYFW – Saint Wobil S/S 2012 Presentation of “The Summer Dolls of Saint Wobil”

Well Mr.Wobil sure knows how to put on a show and Fashionisgreat.com got the front row scoop for you. I attended “The Summer House of Dolls of Saint Wobil” presentation for Spring/Summer 2012, which featured some amazing and unusual designs for women and menswear alike.  His Menswear displayed an array of clean whites and an abundant amount of snakeskin. My personal favorite was the one-shouldered vest, which I think will definitely set a great new trend amongst men for the upcoming spring/summer season. Women’s wear received a round of applause from beginning to end, as it deserved. I was in love with every piece of eveningwear that graced the runway. (more…)

#NYFW – What Goes Around Comes Around S/S Women’s Collection

Take that and that and this and that and don’t forget this! What Goes Around Comes Around Spring/Summer 2012 Women’s Collection was quite an adventure! It was a scene taken straight out of an Indiana Jones movie. The scenery was filled with vintage couches, rugs, and tables. Elegant candles graced the tabletops.  I had the honor to sit next to the mother of one of the designers Gerard Maion. We shared conversations on Egypt, charity, the origin of my name, and the collection itself. (more…)

#NYFW – Emerson S/S 2012

I attended the Emerson 2012 runway show yesterday morining and my arrival was still delayed by my good friends at the MTA and some on going investigation at 34th st but this did not cause me to lose my seat this time, thankfully! I was able to snap a few pictures of my own which I will post on tumblr. The video above has some of my favorite looks from the collection as well. At a 32 seconds you see a pair of simple chic leather shorts that are to die for followed by a look I love a pair of shorts in an abstract pattern with a sheer chiffon top that I could see myself living in. This collection was edgy while still being feminine and refined. I thought recurring leather mix in’s were rather nice and unexpected. I also did not expect to see so many pairs of glasses from Eyefly, the brand that provided glasses for the show, that I would love but as a owner of many frames I am a little biased. Keep an eye on fashionisgreat.tumblr.com for my personal pictures from this show.
